The show stayed true to the world it created, with neatly sketched characters and plot twists that managed to excite. Manoj Bajpayee is excellent in the lead role, and with the second season in the pipeline, this is something you could definitely enjoy.
State of Siege 26/11 S1 on Zee5
A screen translation of Sandeep Unnithan's book Black Tornado: The Three Sieges of Mumbai 26/11, State of Siege is an intricate and enticing story that gets your attention as we travel with the characters who battled one of India's most horrific attacks. The show is straightforward in narrating the incidents through the eyes of the NSG forces, depicting the battle through the in-department politics, poor equipment and the absence of proper funding. One of the shows which will give you a new perspective on something you already know.
Special Ops S1 on Hotstar
The latest show on the block, and it comes from spy thriller specialist Neeraj Pandey who always knows how to throw surprises on the audiences. Kay Kay Menon is brilliant as the man leading the pack in this intriguing manhunt that gets really rousing in the final 3 episodes.
Asur S1 on Voot
Arshad Warsi and Barun Sobti team up for this highly interesting show that made its debut on Voot. It is really one of India’s best when it comes to the writing that spins a mythological angle on usual serial killer tropes. The ending may not work well with everybody, but this is surely a hidden gem that’s worth watching.
Little Things S1-S3 on Netflix
If you are not in the mood for thrillers and would love to watch something coming-of-age, Little Things is the go-to show. Featuring a couple going through various stages of their live-in relationship, it makes a lot of space for social commentary and relationship drama as well. Breathe was one of the first Indian shows to get major traction on Amazon Prime, thanks to the cast where Madhavan and Amit Sadh came together. Definitely one of the most innovative shows out there, Jamtara is a very enjoyable story of a small-town gang that erect a phishing scam that opens up loads of other confusions and combinations. The witty writing and the milieu make it a great watch on the whole.
Mirzapur Season 1 on Amazon Prime
For those who love bloody gangster dramas, Mirzapur is one of the must-watch shows in the bank. The show is still looked at as an underrated one, as it subsided in the hype created by the first show on this list. However, great performances, gritty narration and some memorable scenes come together in top fashion here.
Made in Heaven S1 on Prime
If we were asked to pick the best Indian show yet, Made in Heaven would definitely be the frontrunner. Brought forward by the quadrant of Zoya Akhtar, Nitya Mehra, Prashant Nair and Alankrita Srivastava, the show based on a wedding planner duo goes through almost all topics in the relationship drama space.
