15 under rated shows on Netflix

Netflix has become everyone's fixer-upper and best friend during this lockdown. However, it is really difficult to sit and navigate through a wide range of content and decide what to watch and what can be skipped. There are shows which have been cancelled even after one season and some shows have gone on till season 6 and 7 even though the audiences didn't seem too pleased with it. But we have a list of shows that are truly underrated and deserve to be o your must-watch list.

Dead To Me, 2 Seasons - Netflix

The Christina Applegate - Linda Cardellini starrer show may be marketed as a comedy, but it is truly more. It talks about dealing with grief, loss of a spouse, guilt and bonding over heartfelt pain. With amazing performances from both the actresses, we wonder why this show hasn't been able to strike a chord with the audiences.

Lovesick, Season 1 - Netflix
Trust the Brits when it comes to intelligent comedy and humour. The show's story is simple, a man is infected with an STD and he must find all of his sexual conquests and inform them. On the journey to finding how he got infected, he ends up falling in love and meeting the love of his life. The series will make you feel warm, loved and also chuckle.

The End Of The F***ing World, 2 Seasons - Netflix
A budding teen psychopath and a rebel hungry for adventure embark on a star-crossed road trip in this darkly comic series based on a graphic novel. Misanthropy and humour pair perfectly in this romantically nihilistic show that proves that falling in love can feel like The End of the F***ing World. We rate it very highly and you should definitely binge-watch it.

The Last Kingdom, 4 Seasons - Netflix
This show is a must-watch as it has such a great storyline. If you have already seen the Vikings then I suggest you give it a shot. Uhtred of Bebbanburg will definitely become the hero you have been rooting for. Alexander Doetsch is literally lived in the character Uhtred, everything he does and did will give u goosebumps. His character is simply phenomenal. King Alfred character is marvellous. The locations are picturesque and they literally transport you back to the time of the 9th century. If you like historical war dramas like GOT, Vikings, Spartacus we suggest to watch it as soon as you can.

Sense8, 2 Seasons - Netflix

Definitely one of the most amazing shows I have seen, it also has some great cinematography and a very complex plot which is shown so smoothly and beautifully or could be said so geniusly. Eight strangers around the globe find themselves connected first by a violent vision, then by their shared ability to connect with one another's thoughts and actions, and finally by the urgent need to find out what happened and why. Their need to know goes beyond simple curiosity as they pursue answers, a mysterious organization hunts them down, intent on destroying them.

Mindhunter, 2 Season - Netflix
mind hunter

This is based on the life of an investigator who tries to understand the behaviour of serial killers in order to prevent future mishaps. A very good eye for detail this show showcases the darker side of humans. We totally dig this show and ask you to watch it, this very weekend.
Dark, 2 Seasons - Netflix
There will be comparisons drawn with Stranger Things but this one deserves a mention for all the science fiction people who believe in time travel and loops this is a gem. There are only 18 episodes in this brilliant piece of work and for the dystopia lovers, it will be a treat to watch.
Punisher, 2 Seasons - Netflix
Punisher is the perfect anti-hero. I was initially a little sceptical; it's hard to pull of the character whose only superpower is the rage. Jon Bernthal did complete justice to the Frank castle he lives and breathes the role without never being too comical. The action of the series has to be one its strongest suit, it's one of the live-action on tv, all the blood gore never appeared forced, it did complete justice to the character and storyline.

Fauda, 3 Seasons - Netflix
Fauda, meaning ‘Chaos', talks about the adventures and misadventures of an Israeli task force called Mistaarvim (meaning “those who live among the Arabs”). There are 3 seasons of the show and while the show’s spoken language is Hebrew or Arabic, most of the show is action and hence you don’t need to glance at subtitles all that often. Each of the 3 seasons is a complete story in itself and every season betters the prior one in the complexity of the plot. The central characters remain the same across the 3 seasons and have a clear progression, so if you are watching the series in one go, it is impossible not to binge-watch. Fauda is among the must-watch series on Netflix and it has, over time, become a series Netflix is known for. The show has been criticized for its caricature-ish portrayal of Arabs but from a neutral’s POV, I thought the Arabs / Palestinians at least got a voice on the show, even though their tone was jingo-ish.

After Life, 2 Seasons - Netflix
Tony (Ricky Gervais) had a perfect life. But after his wife Lisa suddenly dies, Tony changes. After contemplating taking his own life, he decides instead to live long enough to punish the world by saying and doing whatever he likes from now on. The clumsy attempts at creating emotional connection are endearing specifically and that is what the show is all about. This is a show, we highly recommend.

Broadchurch, 3 Seasons - Netflix

This is definitely one of the most underrated shows out there. Narrating the incidents that take place in the small fictional town of Broadchurch, it depicts the happenings around a single case and how it affects everybody in the town. David Tennant and Olivia Colman make a great pair as two detectives giving in their best to pin down the killer, with the eerie setting of the town making it a show that develops right into your nerves and sends a chill down your spine.

The Fall, 2 Seasons - Netflix

A very intriguing series that focuses on serial killers and the methods used to find them. The detailing is excellent, as all the troubles undertaken by the detectives are showcased without any sugar coating. This is more of a police procedural than a fast-paced thriller, so be prepared before you go for it, and you will definitely be sucked into the world of the show.

Ozark, 3 Seasons -  Netflix
Fans of Breaking Bad will not want to miss this spectacular show that sets itself up beautifully over the course of 3 seasons. It’s a slow burn thriller that develops over the course of 3 seasons, but the makers know what they are doing, and when they pull the rabbit out of the hat, jaws will drop for sure. And yes, Jason Bateman is simply terrific playing Marty Byrde.

Bordertown, 3 Seasons - Netflix

A Finnish series that skillfully blends familial tension with a detective drama, giving us multiple cases to pique our interest. The small-town setting is more than enough to keep us interested, and there are lots of wacky characters and case leads that develop over the course of the show. Nordic Noir in one of its best forms.
Kingdom, 2 Seasons - Netflix

The Koreans have blown audiences away with a big set of series which mostly deliver great entertainment, but one shouldn’t miss their magnum opus in Kingdom – a spectacular period adventure that binds genres with ease. It follows a Crown Prince who is accused of treason and the events that take place as he gets back to his throne, but that’s not going to be easy because there are a big load of dangerous zombies who get busy when the sun goes down every day. The series is packed with riveting action sequences, superb twists and a great cast – you will definitely want more of it by the end.
