Killers of the Flower Moon is a film by Martin Scorsese and stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro in pivotal characters. Killers of the Flower Moon team was seeking for a new bankroller. Momentarily, it is proclaimed that Apple will close the contract on its rights with Paramount as a joining partner.
Killers of the Flower Moon is the highest-profile forthcoming films in Hollywood as it holds names like Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro. Now as per reports Apple will fund the movie as they take it over from Paramount. The movie will be released worldwide as an Apple original and Paramount will distribute it theatrically around the globe.
Earlier, Paramount procured the rights from Imperative Entertainments who reportedly paid $5 million to adapt the book. Then, Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio were bought in with Robert De Niro joining later.
In April 2020, it was informed that Paramount Studio was bothered with the spiralling expense of filming as it already had reached $200 million. The Hollywood studio was then looking for a new financial partner as the budget went overboard. Once the deal was brought into the bourse, several big giants like Universal and MGM along with OTT platforms such as Netflix and Apple were in a bidding war.
Presently, Apple has procured the rights from Paramount studios. It will bankroll the movie and have a formative hold over it whereas Paramount will remain a partner on the film. The contract is reported to be a big advantage for the film as it would not face any further financial problem and also it will get a more voluminous release.
Killers of the Flower Moon will stream on Apple TV+ following its tentpole theatrical release and with that, it would mark the biggest deal for technical titan and its successive second tremendous movie deal. It is also to be noted that recently Apple bought Greyhound starring Tom Hanks, who also penned down the movie, which will directly stream on Apple TV+ as the movie missed its theatrical release due to COVID 19 Pandemic.
The film would be the first-ever time to feature the trio of Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro together. Scorsese has directed with both DiCaprio and De Niro in several accoladed movies while the two stars have appeared together in This Boy’s Life (1993).
