Amazon Prime’s 'The Underground Railroad', by Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment
Amazon Prime Video is currently developing the historical drama series, 'The Underground Railroad', produced by Amazon Studios in conjunction with Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment. The series is part of Amazon Prime Video's mega deal with Plan B for producing and creating digital content for the streaming platform.
The limited series has been adapted from Colson Whitehead's widely-appreciated 2016 novel, The Underground Railroad. The narrative revolves around a young girl, Cora, who is a slave on a cotton plantation in Georgia. Life for Cora is worse than other slaves' lives. She is an outcast even among her fellow Africans. As she comes into womanhood, even greater pain awaits her.
That is when she learns of the existence of the Underground Railroad from Caesar, who's recently arrived from Virginia. The two decide to take a terrifying risk and escape. The Underground Railroad is a real network of railways that is run underground by courageous slaves. The runaway slaves story is complex and compelling, making for very good drama.
The series is directed and executive produced by Barry Jenkins. Brad Pitt, Adele Romanski, Sara Murphy and Mark Ceryak are the other executive producers on the show.
Thuso Mbedu plays the central character of Cora, while Aaron Pierre plays Caesar. Chase W. Dillon, Joel Edgerton, Damon Herriman, Amber Gray, Jim Klock, Lily Rabe and William Jackson Harper are the other actors playing vital roles in the series.
The Underground Railroad will premiere later this year on Amazon Prime Video. Until then, stay tuned to LetsOTT for further updates.
