Amidst Coronavirus fears, Disney+ to release Frozen 2 three months earlier

Disney is one entertainment company with a long tradition of delivering unlimited joy and happiness to families. Be it through the thrilling experiences at its amusement parks, or through its magnificent productions centred around beloved fairy tales, Disney is the official happiness giver for kids and grownups alike.

In a heartwarming announcement that reinforces its place at the top of joy-giving companies, Disney+ declared last night that it will premiere its keenly-awaited animated hit, Frozen 2, on 15th March on its streaming platform, three months ahead of schedule. Released in November of 2019 in theatres, Frozen 2 was slated to premiere on Disney+ in June 2020. But Disney+ is releasing the movie early, to give scores of homebound families, along with their bored kids, some much-needed joy and hope in the testing times of the Coronavirus pandemic. Millions of people have self-quarantined themselves at home, to stop the spread of Coronavirus. Schools have been shut down and lots of companies have asked their employees to work from home. At such a time, a feel-good movie such as Frozen 2 will go a long way in warming the cockles of people's hearts.

Disney's generosity in bringing forward the Frozen 2 premiere, stands to win the company brownie points for its thoughtfulness, not to say, better business by way of increased subscriptions. It is, therefore, a smart move on the part of the streaming platform.

“Frozen 2 has captivated audiences around the world through its powerful themes of perseverance and the importance of family, messages that are incredibly relevant during this time, and we are pleased to be able to share this heartwarming story early with our Disney+ subscribers to enjoy at home on any device,” Disney CEO Bob Chapek said in a statement about the decision.

A statement from the company said, "The move is intended to provide families with some fun and joy during this challenging period.”

The move by Disney+ is certainly an excellent example of making the best out of an otherwise abysmal situation.
