The much-awaited cat-and-mouse thriller Andhaghaaram is all set to release on Netflix. Yes, the film which stars Arjun Das and Vinoth Kishan will release directly on an OTT platform owing to the restrictions on cinemas during the coronavirus pandemic lockdown.
The thriller even has a supernatural bend and is the third Tamil film to opt for a worldwide premiere online after the legal drama Ponmaghal Vandhal and Keerthy Suresh starrer Penguin were acquired by Amazon Prime Video. Andhaghaaram is presented by renowned filmmaker Atlee, produced by his A for Apple Productions, alongside Passion Studios and O2 Pictures. Just last month, there were rumours that the film’s producers were in talks with multiple streaming platforms to release the film online, and it seems that Netflix has sealed the deal.
Anghadhaam’s trailer was released on 14 April, the auspicious occasion of the Tamil New Year. Many prominent members of the film industries in India lauded the film’s trailer on social media, including ace filmmaker Karan Johar.
Directed by V. Vignarajan, Anghadhaaram has Vinoth playing a blind character but his blindness is an only disability and doesn’t veer the audience away from the fact that he may be at the centre of an investigation. Meanwhile, Arjun, who made his presence felt in ‘Kaithi’ is seen in the lead role.
We’re excited about this one. Are you?
