What is the story about?

When a group of terrorists hijack a plane and hold everything down under, a mysterious woman unlocks a secret which turns the entire scenario upside down.

Analysis

Blood Red Sky is a film that has its plot right, with an interesting setup too, to pull our attention into the proceedings. The film springs up its surprises in the first hour in a very convincing fashion, but from there on, it dumbs down the intensity that it builds with a predictable narrative that doesn’t have anything special to flaunt. Though the film has space for good twists and fight sequences, it does not make best use of the opportunities in hand and ends up as a half baked fare. Even the emotional undercurrent that has a lot of scope isn’t exploited in its best form, and ultimately dies down when the credits roll.

Performances

Peri Baumeister pulls off an impressive show in the lead role, with a mysterious element to her character helping her mask the little flaws too. Carl Anton, the little kid, forms a terrific onscreen relationship with his mother, and that helps the film draw attention especially in the first hour. The group of terrorists are fine in their own ways, with other cast members having their little moments of glory.

Music & Other Departments

The music in the film really helps to up the ante at many places, with the cinematography being neat as well.

Highlights

The concept is worth exploring and deserves attention.

Drawbacks

The film is loaded with some routine, repetitive plot points which could have been altered in an interesting way.

Did I enjoy it?

No. The film doesnt quite realize its potential.

Do I recommend it?

No. Blood Red Sky has a good plot but it totally loses its way after the halfway mark.
