CNN to launch standalone streaming service CNN+

CNN is planning to launch CNN+, a stand-alone streaming service that will show different content programming than on CNN. The streaming service will be available for viewers in the first quartet of 2022. The plan was to integrate a news service into HBO Max when WarnerMedia had planned the streamer's launch but plans decidedly shifted to make CNN+ a streaming service on its own.

CNN spoke about the launch saying, "CNN superfans, news junkies and fans of quality non-fiction programming.” The streaming service will have content that is both on-demand and live. A press release emphasized that it will be “separate and distinct” from CNN, CNN International, HLN and CNN en Español linear TV channels.

CNN+ can be accessed by subscribers on a single app where they can watch all the programming. Pay-TV subscribers will get to access the app by showing their Pay-TV credentials. As reported by Deadline, linear feeds of CNN, CNN International, HLN and CNN en Español channels will be available only for pay-TV subscribers. Pay-TV subscribers looking to upgrade to CNN+ will be able to do so in the CNN app.
