DGA Awards: 'Nomadland', 'The Flight Attendant' win top honours

Nomadland director Chloe Zhao created history at the 73rd annual Directors' Guild of America (DGA) awards, when she became only the second female director to win the Best Director award, after Kathryn Bigelow for The Hurt Locker in 2008.

Beating out a field that included David Fincher (Mank), Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman) and Lee Isaac Chung (Minari), Zhao's win now means she becomes the clear frontrunner to win Best Director at the Oscars, that are supposed to be held later this month.

In more wins for streaming, Darius Marder won the First-Time Feature Directing Award for the Riz Ahmed-starrer Sound of Metal, while Susanna Fogel took home the Best Director in a Comedy Series for The Flight AttendantScott Frank bagged the honours in the TV Movie/Miniseries category for The Queen's Gambit.
