Disney Plus to premiere Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker’ two months early, on 4th May, Star Wars Day!
After Frozen 2 and Onward, Disney has another movie releasing much before its originally planned premiere date. The movie is Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the new premiere date on Disney Plus is 4th May, which is celebrated the world over as Star Wars Day.
Disney is releasing the last of the Star Wars movie two months in advance on its streaming platform, as a special gift for Star Wars fans worldwide.
In India, the movie will release on Disney Plus Hotstar Premium. Disney has planned two other treats to celebrate Star Wars Day — the documentary series, Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, and the finale of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Both launch on 4th May on Disney Plus Hotstar.
Disney has disrupted its release schedule on previous occasions during the lockdown, including bringing forward the online launch of its latest Pixar movie Onward after the film’s theatrical run was cut short by the coronavirus.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is the third instalment in the latest trilogy of Star Wars movies, the other two being The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Thus, with the release of the third movie in the Trilogy on Disney Plus, it will be for the first time ever that fans will be able to stream the entire Skywalker saga in one place.
The Rise of Skywalker is directed by J.J. Abrams and stars a huge ensemble cast, comprising Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Anthony Daniels, Naomi Ackie, Domhnall Gleeson, Richard E. Grant, Lupita Nyong'o, Keri Russell, Joonas Suotamo, Kelly Marie Tran, Ian McDiarmid and Billy Dee Williams.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres on Disney Plus Hotstar Premium on 4th May.
