Gear up, there's gonna be a Season 4 of HBO's marquee sci-fi show, Westworld
HBO has green-lit Season 4 of its extremely popular sci-fi series, Westworld. Season 3 of Westworld is currently streaming on HBO and on Disney Plus Hotstar Premium in India. The fictional series, set in a dystopian future, is based on Michael Crichton's 1973 film of the same name, specifically, the first two seasons, so to say.
The currently-streaming Season 3 deviates from the original premise, to have the android hosts of the futuristic amusement park enter the outside world, and form associations with humans. The premise of the series is intriguing, and the cast is delectable. Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, Aaron Paul, Tessa Thompson, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Luke Hemsworth, Simon Quarterman, and Vincent Cassel make up the cast.
No word on how many episodes will comprise Season 4 has been shared by the channel, nor the timeline for release. Going by the show's past record, Season 4 should make an appearance, not before spring of 2022. The first two seasons comprised 10 episodes each, while the third is a bit shorter at 8 episodes.
The husband-wife team of showrunners, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, have time and again conveyed that they have a full-series master plan for at least five seasons, while the contract they have with HBO is for six seasons.
Casey Bloys, Programming President at HBO said on the renewal, "From the Western theme park to the technocratic metropolis of the near future, we've thoroughly enjoyed every twist and turn from the minds of master storytellers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. We can't wait to see where their inspired vision takes us next."
