HBO and HBO Max ink first look deal with Jean-Marc Vallée and Nathan Ross

Jean-Marc Vallée and Nathan Ross have inked a three-year first-look deal with HBO and its streamer sibling HBO Max. The Emmy Winning producers and director are to collaborate on multiple projects with HBO and HBO Max under their production banner Crazyrose. Under the deal, Vallée and Ross will executive produce both Gorilla and the Bird, a limited series based on the memoir by Zack McDermott which Vallée will also direct, and The Players Table, starring Sydney Sweeney and Halsey to be directed by Annabelle Attanasio.

The deal does not come as a surprise especially how their collaboration has before brought laurels. Vallee won Best director for Big Little Lies which Vallee and Ross also executive produced and which itself won eight Emmy's including Vallee's. They also executive produced Sharp Objects for HBO which was nominated for eight Emmys. Vallée directed all eight episodes of Sharp Objects and all seven episodes of Big Little Lies season one.
