Hulu gives series order to 'How I Met Your Father' with Hilary Duff in the lead

Former Disney actress Hilary Duff has been called on to step into the shoes of Josh Radnor for the reimagining of the iconic series How I Met Your Mother. Hulu has given a ten-episode series order to How I Met Your Father from creators Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger. The series is being realised after a long time, ever since the original ended making fans rally for a gender-swapped version of the same. In 2014, the creators of HIMYM Craig Thomas & Carter Bays and Emily Spivey had written a pilot for How I Met Your Father but it did not get picked up by CBS. Aptaker and Berger also penned a version but they were offered to be co-showrunners on NBC's This Is Us and thus, could not move on with their project. Now, Hulu has taken the reins of the series and brought back Aptaker and Berger as creators, writers and exec producers.

Duff (Younger) would be essaying Sophie who is telling her son the story of how she met his father, much like Josh Radnor (and Bob Saget’s) Ted Mosby did in the original series. The story starts in 2021 where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.

Duff is also set as the producer of the series along with Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, the original creators of How I Met Your Mother, who will also executive produce the series, which is produced by 20th Television. Adam Londy will serve as co-executive producer.
