James Wan treats fans with trailer and release date of 'The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It'

James Wan took to his Instagram handle to post the first look trailer and the official poster along with the release date of The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. The eighth film in The Conjuring Universe created by Wan, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It will be premiering in both theatres and on HBO Max on June 4th. The film has been directed by Michael Chaves who returns to the world of The Conjuring after The Curse of La Llorna with a screenplay by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. The film's title comes from the story it is based on, the Trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson or as it is popularly known as The Devil Made Me Do It Case, a murder trial that took place in Connecticut in 1981. The cases was one of the first cases in US Judicial history where the accused plead demonic possession to prove innocence.

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will be reprising their roles as Ed and Lorraine Warren, the paranormal investigators in the film and will be starring alongside Ruairi O'Connor, Sarah Catherine Hook, and Julian Hilliard. The film's official logline reads thus, "The Devil Made Me Do It reveals a chilling story of terror, murder and unknown evil that shocked even experienced real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. One of the most sensational cases from their files, it starts with a fight for the soul of a young boy, then takes them beyond anything they'd ever seen before, to mark the first time in U.S. history that a murder suspect would claim demonic possession as a defence."

The film was supposed to be released on September 11 last year but plans were changed by WarnerMedia and now it will be getting a simultaneous release in theatres and on HBO Max on June 4th.
