JAMTARA IS THE NEW SCAMVILLE

The country today, is subject to financial fraud and innumerable cybercrimes and no points for guessing that Jamtara, a district in Jharkhand, holds special significance for the cybercops. Jamtara takes you to the heartland of India, revealing a whole new world of cybercrime. To bring this story to life, Netflix is all set to present a fictionalized true-crime series, Jamtara - Sabka Number Aayega which is based on the phishing scam. The series is directed by National-award winning director, Soumendra Padhi.

According to news reports, there has been a huge spike in reported cases of phishing, most of which can be traced back to Jamtara. Jamtara - Sabka Number Aayega traces the journey of a group of scamsters in this small town who dupe people of lakhs of rupees with the promise of new cars or the threat of blocked cards. However, soon, greed and power take over the operations of these small-time scamsters, changing their lives as they know it.

Netflix’s Jamtara - Sabka Number Aayega is a fictionalized series inspired by true-crime incidents and set to go live on the service on January 10, 2020.
