With few regions across the world are recovering from the novel coronavirus, Hollywood studios are slowly resuming their production work. Jurassic World: Dominion, the pre-production of the big-budget franchise came to halt in March 2020 as the pandemic swept across the globe. This affected not only Universal Studios but all the other films and shows which were under production.
Jurassic World: Dominion was four weeks into its 20-week production when it came to a halt. Universal Studios is beginning pre-production work this week that will include implementing new safety procedures to keep the set at Pinewood Studios UK free from COVID-19. What makes this interesting is how much Universal is shelling out to take care of its crew’s safety and health. The cost of these measures, which will involve everything from temperature checks to coronavirus testing to extra cleaning, which will cost the studio $5 million, according to the studio insiders. The film resumes filming on July 6th, 2020 in the United Kingdom.
An esteemed media first reported that production was ready to resume on “Jurassic World: Dominion” and broke the news about steps being taken to allow shooting to take place during the pandemic. It was also reported that anyone who is not acting in a scene is supposed to wear masks and will enlist a private medical facility to oversee the cast and crew’s health and well-being.
This marks to be the first major U.K. shoot to start their shoot. The stars of JWD Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas will return to London in the coming days and they will be kept under quarantine for 2 weeks. The cast of the film includes Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Justice Smith, and BD Wong. Colin Trevorrow will be returning to direct this sequel as well.
While we’re on the topic, the other UK-based shoots that are on halt because of the pandemic are “The Batman” and the “Fantastic Beasts and Where to find Them” third sequel.
