It’s that time of the year where Netflix is loading us with Christmas movies and raising our holiday spirits. The next on the list is Just Another Christmas, also known as Tudo Bem no Natal que Vem, which is a comedy film directed by Roberto Santucci. The movie was released on to Netflix on December 3rd and stars Leandro Hassum, Arianna Botelho, Giselle Lopes and others.
What is the story about?
Jorge is a family man who has always hated Christmas and the holiday season because his birthday falls on the day of Christmas and it never seemed as anything special for him. For a person who viewed Christmas as just another day where he could go out and chill with people who equally hated Christmas as much as he did, Jorge ends up having a family who love Christmas and love spending the holiday as a family together. On the Christmas Eve of 2010, Jorge falls from the roof of his house and finds himself stuck in a time loop where he keeps reliving the most dreadful day of the year- Christmas. When he wakes up from a good night’s sleep, he surprisingly ends up waking up to Christmas of 2011 and so on. Every year he learns that something has changed from the previous year and this ends up in many hilarious events and Jorge ultimately starts to learn many valuable lessons about what is important in life.
The whole movie has a comic presence throughout. It is hilarious in its most parts and will have you bursting out laughing in many places. The movie is fast-paced and hence it requires your attention throughout as if you miss some parts, you might end up confused. The film has many hysterical scenarios that might entertain the viewers and this is something different from the usual romantic themed Christmas movies. The parts where Jorge begins to start learning about the valuable lessons of life is beautifully conveyed and makes this movie a perfect watch for kids.
Leandro Hassum, the lead who plays Jorge, gives a very notable and impressive performance as he seemed to carry his energetic self throughout with eccentric comedy and dialogue delivery. All the other characters fit their roles well.
Music & Other Departments
The movie included a lot of Christmas themed songs such as Jingle Bells, in different versions which were nice to hear. All the other departments of the film fit the bill.
The hilarious comedy and the moments where Jorge begins to realize the importance of family and the holiday season were too nice.
The dialogues were dictated in a hurry which made it quite hard to keep up.
