Kevin James to Star in Netflix Original ‘Fuzzy Towers

Director Mike Mitchell who last helmed The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part in February 2019, is all set to direct actor Kevin James in the Netflix original ‘Fuzzy Towers.’
Mitchell has earlier made films like the Disney original film ‘Sky High’, ‘Surviving Christmas’ starring Ben Affleck, ‘Shrek Forever After’, ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked’, Trolls’ as well as the live-action segments of ‘Spongebob: Sponge out of Water’. He has also been a part of the development team on the ‘Kung Fu Panda’ trilogy, ‘Shrek’ 2 & 3, ‘Sausage Party’ among many more.
‘Fuzzy Towers’ is the story of Tommy (played by James), an optometrist who dreams of working on a kids TV show. After the show’s creator passes away, he is given a chance that he is unable to refuse - to resurrect the show. As per reports, Netflix wanted to begin production on Fuzzy Towers in late 2020 but owing to production delays across the world due to the coronavirus pandemic, they are reconsidering beginning work on the film by early 2021.
Meanwhile, Kevin James has previously released his stand-up special ‘Kevin James: Never Don’t Give Up’ for Netflix, apart from starring in Hubie Halloween and also being the star/executive producer on the soon to be released ‘The Crew,’ a comedy about NASCAR.
Fuzzy Towers will be written by Chris Spain, Jon Zack and David Berenbaum. Todd Garner will produce the film through his Broken Films production banner. Garner produced both ‘Paul Blart: Mall Cop’ films which also starred Kevin James in the lead. Todd Garner and his Broken Films production company are currently developing the live-action ‘Mortal Kombat’ film for Warner Bros and Marc Meyers’ ‘All My Life’ for Universal Pictures.
