There’s been no success story like that of Pankaj Tripathi in the Hindi entertainment industry in the recent years, so much that filmmakers genuinely believe their projects attain a ‘minimum guarantee’ value by merely casting him. Be it a lead role, a supporting character or antagonist, he fits into any part as if it were his glove. It’s easy to be under the impression that he’s an overnight success, but it took him nearly two decades across television and films for him to be that success story.
His appearances in Mirzapur, Gunjan Saxena, Gangs of Wasseypur, Sacred Games are among the many crowns on his head; the latest addition to the same being Kaagaz, the biopic of social reformer Lal Bihaari, directed by Satish Kaushik that released on ZEE5 earlier this month. Pankaj Tripathi, in conversation with LetsOTT, tells us why Kaagaz holds a special place in his heart and what it took for him to be the consistent, ever-dependable performer that he's today.
