Malaysian authorities offers subsidy to '6 Underground'

American action thriller 6 Underground is currently streaming on Netflix. The film was released in December last year on Netflix. Upon the release, the film opened to positive reviews from the critics and audiences. Michael Bay directed the film, which was written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese. As per the latest reports, the movie received a financial rebate from the Malaysian authorities as recompense for the visual effects work it purchased in the country. Malaysian authorities introduced an incentive program for film and TV production since 2013, and as part of the same, 6 Underground received this financial rebate.

The Film In Malaysia Incentive (FIMI) is operated by The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS). The corporation offers a 30% rebate for both film production services and for post-production services. Beijing-based Base Media worked for some 90 visual effects shots, resulting in the subsidy becoming possible.

Interestingly, this is the first film that has qualified for the subsidy. The film stars Ryan Reynolds, Mélanie Laurent, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Adria Arjona, Corey Hawkins, Ben Hardy, and Dave Franco.
