To commemorate the landmark judgement, the 51st anniversary of the verdict in the trial at the centre of the film, Netflix has decided to make 'The Trial of The Chicago 7' free for viewing for 48 hours. The film is not only a contender in the Oscars race but also has been nominated with five Golden Globe nominations, three SAG Awards nominations and named one of AFI’s 10 best films of the year.
The Aaron Sorkin directorial starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Sacha Baron Cohen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Keaton, Frank Langella, John Carroll Lynch, Eddie Redmayne, Mark Rylance, Alex Sharp and Jeremy Strong tells the story of one of America's most powerful protests against the Vietnam War and the Democratic National Convention in Chicago and how this truth was twisted into it being a riot or an incitement of a riot. The story of the film hits close to home in a world still fighting against an authority that is too busy trying to save its face.
The film will be available on the Netflix official YouTube channel beginning on Friday at 12 am PT (1:30 pm IST) and viewers can watch it within 48 hours. It was officially released on Netflix on October 2.
