The official trailer of Denis Villeneuve directorial Dune was released today on social media platforms. Starring Timothée Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson and Zendaya in the lead, Dune will have a day and date premiere in theatres and on HBO Max on October 22nd.
The trailer tells the tale of a planet, a civilization that is ravaged by "outsiders". A tale quite suited for a realized history of the world with the present political turmoil only the aftermath of the events experienced, Dune presents itself as inspired by reality hidden under the facade of fictional telling. Dune is adapted from a screenplay based on Frank Herbert's novel of the same name with many calling it "The Star Wars of the present generation".
Feuding royals, a deadly planet and a gifted young man who holds the destiny of everyone in his hands. Born to Duke Leto Atreides (Oscar Isaac) and Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson), Paul (Timothée Chalamet) inherits stewardship of Arrakis (aka Dune), a dangerous desert wasteland that's home to vigilant natives (Zendaya as Chani) and melange (aka spice), the most precious resource in the entire universe. Known to extend life and grant user its user superhuman intellect and faster-than-light speed, they set out on a mining expedition to save what's left from malevolent forces that would do anything to get it. As they face mind-bending realities, raging rebellions, and giant sandworms, the future becomes clear: only those who can conquer fear will survive.
Ensemble cast members also include Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Jason Momoa, Stellan Skarsgård, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Chang Chen, David Dastmalchian, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling and Javier Bardem.
