One Plus and Netflix fight for the HD Issue.
Jeya Suriya -
One Plus mobile phones are the most sold in the market these days. Also, the One Plus team had released new phones recently - One Plus 8 and One Plus 8 Pro.
Now, there is an issue that One Plus 8 Pro users are witnessing Netflix videos only in SD when they clearly pay for the HD Subscription. A reader named Nicolas reported to a popular site that he experienced the SD issue of watching Netflix with the OnePlus 8 Pro. Apparently, a Numerous number of users are also grieving it on the One Plus Community Forum.
So after investigations in the forum, it is found that this obstacle started befalling with version 15.5.5, but now consumers have proclaimed that it continued in version 15.5.6. The complaints can be found since May 2, so it is clear that the problem is persisting for a while.
A techie spoke to a popular portal that, "The OnePlus 8 Pro is having a problem with streaming HD video on applications like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video." He adds up "There is a Widevine DRM issue, where it’s depreciating from L1 to L3. When the machine gets into this protection level, it’s inadequate to stream HD and HDR videos from various applications."
This is unfortunate for users who paid quite a bit looking to take benefit of the sumptuous display on the OnePlus 8 Pro.
Now, OnePlus has issued Android Authority a statement regarding the controversy to OnePlus 8 Pro Netflix HD streaming issues. An OnePlus representative spoke to a portal that this is a recognised concern swaying a diminutive number of machines and they are striving on an OTA to settle this in late June. The brief statement from the mobile company's executive doesn’t affirm or disprove the techie's Widevine theory and also there is no certainty on why this is befalling, but at least we know a solution is on the way.
If you are undergoing the OnePlus 8 Pro Netflix issue, you should see it solved before July. Until then, you’ll have to grieve through SD quality streams.
