Put off yet again by Coronavirus lockdown, Karthick Naren's long-delayed film Naragasooran may release on OTT soon
Following in the footsteps of several big-ticket Hollywood movies, the Coronavirus pandemic has compelled Tamil director Karthick Naren to seriously contemplate releasing his promising theatrical production Naragasooran on OTT platforms.
Young director Karthick Naren is one of the most promising filmmakers in Tamil cinema. His recently released movie, Mafia: Chapter 1, starring Arun Vijay, Prasanna and Priya Bhavani Shankar, received both critical and commercial acclaim. But even young successful hotshot directors are helpless in the face of the rampaging Coronavirus.
Naren's much-awaited film Naragasooran, despite having generated good buzz owing to its stellar ensemble cast and alluring premise, has been stuck in the cans for all the wrong reasons. Finally, the movie was due to release in theatres on 27th March, but even that plan had to be shelved in the wake of the Coronavirus lockdown.
And now, with PM Modi announcing a 21-day lockdown in the entire country, the chances of Naren's film 'Naragasooran' have become even bleaker. Starring some of the most popular actors in the Tamil film industry, such as Aravind Swamy, Shriya Saran, Sundeep Kishan, Aathmika and Indrajith Sukumaran, Karthick Naren's is much looked forward to by audiences.
Naren even took to Instagram to run a poll, asking viewers whether he should release the movie on digital. Upwards of 80% of people gave him a thumbs-up.
Karthick Naren has yet to come to a decision, with no announcement coming forth from his end. Stay tuned to LetsOTT for more news on Naren's decision.
