What is the story about?

Indian national Asad Khan is a national-level shooter who is in Belgrade, Serbia for a shooting competition. He meets a Pakistani woman, Zoya Farooqui in Belgrade, who is running away from her own wedding. Her jilted fiance sends his men to find her, but Asad helps her stay safe. However, there is a bigger conspiracy at play as the head of the Indian National Security Agency has her eyes on Asad and Zoya. The duo soon find themselves falling in love, but they both have to fight with not just their pasts but even an unseen enemy.

The current trend is bringing back television shows, adding new arcs, characters and stories to their web series versions. After Jamai 2.0, we are presented with yet another television show returning as a web series 'Qubool Hai 2.0'. While Surbhi Jyoti and Karan Singh Grover reprise their roles of Zoya and Asad, their love story is set against the backdrop of India-Pakistan tensions. The love story is simple, the boy meets the runaway bride, yet it is complicated with the sub-plots of Intelligence Agencies, jilted lovers, terrorism, intelligence failures, and broken families. While the television series was more direct, the web series has a lot of content going on. In half-hour episodes, there is only so much that the audience can grasp. You are bombarded with way too many twists and turns in the story. Yet, this makes for a compelling watch as you can't predict what would happen next. You would want to binge-watch this series in one evening as the episodes are timed at 20-odd minutes each. The best part about 'Qubool Hai 2.0', it doesn't try to be pretentious or pseudo-intellectual. It is entertaining and offers what the Indian audiences want to see.

Surbhi Jyoti as the bubbly and lively, Zoya Farooqui looks resplendent in her bridal attire and acts her part perfectly. Karan Singh Grover, as the stoic and serious, yet charming romantic hero Asad Ahmed Khan is a delight to watch. It was also good to see veteran actors such as Lillette Dubey and Arif Zakaria in small, yet impactful roles. Mandira Bedi, as the manipulative and calculative head of the Indian National Security Agency, also brings a lot of intrigue to the show. Surbhi and Karan have a lot of chemistry between them onscreen and the romantic scenes just make your heart flip. The best part is Qubool Hai 2.0 doesn't suffer from the hangover of their previous pairing. This one looks fresh and with a lot of zest.

Music & Other Departments

There is not much music to talk about, except for the title track. The series has been shot for a majority portion in Belgrade, Serbia and has some beautiful locales. However, it has been shot well and the episodes seem crisp and edited tightly with a special mention for Ashmit Kunder for his editing. The script and screenplay too are simple, yet they ensure to keep you entertained till the last minute.

Watch this show for the sizzling chemistry between Surbhi Jyoti and Karan Singh Grover.

Too many loose ends by the end of the show and climax, wish there were more episodes in one season.

Did I enjoy it?

Yes. I loved it.

Do I recommend it?

Watch it. It is a series that is neither too serious nor pretentious and that is the best part about it.
