Roku renames acquired Quibi content to Roku originals

As Roku is gearing up to enter into the original programming business, the streamer is ready with a lineup of originals and Quibi content which it acquired from Jeffrey Katzenberg’s defunct startup in January this year. The streaming service is set to rename Quibi titles to Roku originals with more information about the Quibi lineup, including release dates, which would be disclosed in May.

According to Deadline, the Roku originals would be available for the audience on the ad-supported but free platform, the Roku channel. Content that would be streaming includes more than 75 originals, including a dozen unreleased series that would be debuting on the platform. The announcement teased Quibi talent including Anna Kendrick (Dummy), Chrissy Teigen (Chrissy’s Court), Lena Waithe (You Ain’t Got These), Idris Elba (Elba vs. Block), Kevin Hart (Die Hart), and Liam Hemsworth (Most Dangerous Game).

Sweta Patel, Roku’s VP of Engagement Growth Marketing, said of the renaming, "We’re thrilled to introduce this award-winning and diverse portfolio of entertainment under the Roku Originals brand– it’s relevant, fun and thought-provoking TV that has something for everyone from the best talent in Hollywood.”
