Series On 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' In The Works At Amazon Prime
Editorial Team -
Amazon Prime Video is working on a series based on the leading protagonist of 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo'. The protagonist of the book trilogy, Lisbeth Salander, has been widely appreciated by fans of the series for her quirky characterisation and sharp detective, deductive and research skills. The wildly popular book series, written by Steig Larsson, was developed into movies, both English and Scandinavian, which enjoyed wide viewership.
The series will be created with a new plot, storyline and secondary characters, retaining Lisbeth Salander as the primary protagonist. The series is being produced jointly by Amazon and Left Bank Pictures in association with Sony Pictures TV.
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest were the original books in the Trilogy, which has sold over 100 million copies across the globe.
The cast and crew of the series are yet to be announced upcoming series. The series hasn’t finalised on the artist who would be playing the character of Lisbeth Salander. Noomi Rapace, Rooney Mara and Claire Foy have previously portrayed Lisbeth Salander in various film adaptions of the crime novels.
Incidentally, the 2011 Hollywood version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by David Fincher did not make it to cinema halls in India, as the director was not ready to screen the heavily censored version dictated by the Indian censor board. The graphic sexual assault sequences, nudity and explicit love-making scenes were all cut out by the censor board of India.
The movie is not even available for streaming on any streaming service in the country. Amazon Prime Video's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo series, therefore, has great potential for becoming a popular show in the country, provided it is made well.
