Shakuntala Devi Music Review: A happy soundtrack that does its job right!

Sachin-Jigar are back with their new album in Shakuntala Devi, which is Vidya Balan’s upcoming straight-to-OTT film that hits the small screens on the 31st of this month. Here’s what the songs sound like.

Pass Nahi Toh Fail Nahi: Singer – Sunidhi Chauhan ????

A really catchy track with a hook that gets onto you instantly. Sunidhi Chauhan is excellent in bringing up all her energy to the fore here, and it works wonders to start off the album on a good note.

Rani Hindustani: Singer – Sunidhi Chauhan
Sunidhi again, and this time she gets to wrap her voice around this playful track that has a retro-like feel to it. Sachin and Jigar make use of various string arrangements to make this click.

Paheli: Singer – Shreya Ghoshal ????

Shreya Ghoshal totally owns this lilting melody that comes with both the lyrical and chorus portions sounding so smooth and soothing. The best song in the album.

Jhilmil Piya: Singer – Benny Dayal & Monali Thakur
Another song that has an old-world feel to it, with both melodic and highs balanced out. Monali Thakur sounds very good here, while Benny Dayal is unlike his usual energetic self.
On the whole, Shakuntala Devi is a short and sweet soundtrack from the Sachin-Jigar pair, that scores with its easy-on-the-ear compositions, despite not having great material. Pass Nahi Toh Fail Nahi and Paheli are sure to grab some attention prior and after the film’s release.
