All fingers point towards politician Ravi Khanna (Arjun Mathur) whose wife is in a coma and is lying in a hospital. Whether ACP Avinash Verma is able to unearth the sinister plan forms the crux of the story.
I am a sucker for classic whodunnits and clearly there is a dearth of good old fashioned police procedurals as well. The film ticks a lot of boxes when it comes to the genre of crime thrillers. However, ad person turned filmmaker Aban Bharucha Deohans falls a bit short of having a perfect screenplay. There are also a lot of plotholes and goof-ups that aren't explained properly during the runttime of the film. A lot of the red herrings don't do much to keep the interest levels of the audiences going. However, it has to be mentioned that the mystery unfurls itself only at the climax and is clearly unforeseen and unpredictable. Apart from that, the story doesn't have much of novelty and some scenes have been done to death before.
Manoj Bajpayee carries the film on his shoulders till the very end. He adds a lot of zing, zest and quirkiness to an otherwise dull script. It was refreshing to see Prachi Desai back on the screen as well as inspector Sanjana Bhatia. Arjun Mathur, who has been ruling the OTT platforms with his fantabulous acting deserves a special mention for his portrayal of Ravi Khanna, a sketchy politician. The rest of the cast too seem quite good in their roles. But the fantastic Manoj Bajpayee is the heart and the soul of this film. He has a ready wit and uses unconventional methods to solve the mystery and that certainly won me over.
Music & Other Departments
Thankfully, there are no forced songs in the film as it would have ruined the flow of the movie. The script and screenplay are a bit weak, but we thankfully have Manoj Bajpayee who salvages the film till the very end. There are too many plotholes in the script the biggest being the murder weapon not being checked for fingerprints as there is a scene with forensic experts at the crime scene. It is introduced much later into the film, but by that time the audiences have figured out that this indeed was a goof-up and not a part of the plot. The plots about the rape of the victim and sexual activities are mentioned and then dropped like a sack of potatoes.
Watch out for the marvellous Manoj Bajpayee.
A murder mystery that has far too many loopholes.
Did I enjoy it?
Yes, I did enjoy it.
Do I recommend it?
Yes, watch it if you are a Manoj Bajpayee fan.
