Spike Lee's new joint, picked up by HBO

Spike Lee made a triumphant return in 2018 to Cannes with his “BlacKkKlansman”, and now he’ll be premiering the Viet-War drama “Da 5 Bloods” at Cannes 2020. That means he’s in the Oscars race this year as a strong contender. Spike’s new film fulfilled the hungry critics and cinephiles who were craving for a movie with substantial substance. Da 5 Bloods was just the answer to them and its trending Number One on Netflix’s top 10.
If you contain the excitement, we have news which will make you ecstatic. Recently HBO has announced to have picked up rights to release Spike Lee’s concert film “David Byrne’s American Utopia”. The film version of Broadway musical will feature choreographer Parson, director of photography Ellen Kuras, production consultant Timbers and Editor Adam Gough.
River Road Entertainment and Warner Music Entertainment are on board as Executive Producers and will be financing the project with Participant as a lead. The film is produced by David Byrne’s Todomundo and Lee’s Forty Acres and a Mule Filmworks production companies and executive produced by RadicalMedia.
