What is the story about?

Krishna (Harshith) is brilliant in studies but he aspires to become a chef one day. However, his father who opines that “life is not a joke” wishes to see him as an IIT graduate. Krishna’s life takes an interesting turn after he meets Jasmine (Payal). Tender romance brews between the duo and that in turn sets in a motion a series of unforeseen incidents.

Analysis

Tharagathi Gadhi Daati is a teenage romance that had to have two things going its way - good performance from the lead cast and a breezy narrative. The lead actors do a pretty good job as they come up with impressive performances. But when it comes to the narrative, the series just about manages to score the pass marks. The tender romance between the lead pair is fresh and appealing to an extent. But the core conflict point which results in a hiccup or two in their relationship is way too convenient, ergo the lack of impact in the emotional sequences that follow. The father-son track is good though. And so is the love track between the other two lead characters, played by Nikhil Devadula and Snehal. The subplots are partly engaging, but they don’t any substantial value to the main narrative.

Performances

As mentioned above, the series scores well as far as acting goes. Harshith, Payal, and the guy who plays the protagonist’s father come up with good performances.

Music & Other Departments

The background score gels with the mood and the vibe of the proceedings. Cinematography is of desired quality. Production designing should have been better. The locales don’t quite replicate a rural neighbourhood, which is projected as one of the core elements in the story:

Highlights

The father-son track.

Drawbacks

There's nothing extraordinary about the story per se.

Did I enjoy it?

Not entirely, but in parts, yes.

Do I recommend it?

If you have way too much spare time then you might give it a try. But keep you expectations in check, strictly.
