The great name in media, Take up a whole new challenge.
In a surprising turn of events, Sudhanshu Vats, CEO and MD of Viacom18, the parent company of OTT platform, Voot Select, has resigned from his position, after serving at the top job for eight long years. The resignation comes into effect from today, that is 15th April.
Sudhanshu Vats had taken over as MD and CEO of Viacom18 in 2012. Viacom18 is the India-based joint venture between international production company ViacomCBS and Indian company TV18. In his eventful stint, he took Viacom18 from strength to strength, making it a formidable force in the world of Hindi entertainment. He helped Viacom18 Studios, the content creation arm of the company, to spread its wings and make memorable homegrown cinematic and digital content.
It was under him that the company launched Voot, its VOD service. He also oversaw the recent resurrection of Voot, which underwent a major makeover, metamorphosing into Voot Select, the premium, paid-subscription avatar of Voot.
Voot Select launched in March 2020, and has been aggressively pursuing the battle for digital eyeballs in the competitive Indian OTT space. All three of its releases, Marzi, Asura and The Raikar Case, have been extremely well-received by viewers.

Vats leaves behind a strong leadership team which has grown the different verticals of the company into large businesses and they will continue to manage their respective verticals under the leadership of Rahul Joshi, Managing Director of the Network18 Group.
Starting April 16, 2020, Sudhanshu Vats will be the Additional Director at Essel Propack. Besides this, the board at Essel Propack has also appointed him as the CEO and Managing Director of the Company. Based out of Mumbai, Essel Propack is one of the key players in the packaging segment, and the company manufactures laminated plastic tubes for Pharmaceutical and the FMCG sectors.
