Fans of the iconic Telugu comedy series, Amrutham, simply can't wait for when their beloved show will be back on ZEE5 Telugu in its new, digital-only avatar, aptly called Amrutham Dvitheeyam. To whet their appetites, ZEE5 Telugu has released a trailer for the upcoming series, and it is everything that fans have always wanted from a sequel of the epic series.
The almost 2-minute trailer introduces most of the primary characters, including Harsh Vardhan reprising his role as Amrutham Rao from the original. L.B. Sriram takes over the popular character of Anji, which was played by late comedian Gundu Hanumantha Rao earlier. And though fans of the original, and of Gundu Hanumantha Rao are ruing the absence of the latter, we must say that L.B. Sriram has done a commendable job of stepping into the formidable shoes of the late comedian. He makes for a superb Anji if what we saw of him in the trailer is anything to go by.
The trailer shows how Amrutham decides to reopen his restaurant Amrutham Vilas with Anji, and how the duo puts their hearts into finding investors for their beloved restaurant. And then they're back into business, and how!
Vasu Inturi as Sarvam, Ragini as Santha and Shivannarayana as Appaji return to reprise their respective roles. Satya Krishnan takes over the role of Amrutham's wife Sanjeevani and Kasi Vishwanath replaces late thespian Devadas Kanakala as Amrutham's father-in-law.
Gunnam Gangaraju, the original creator of the show, will handle the new series as showrunner, although most of the main directing will be taken over by his son, Sandeep Gunnam.
Amrutham Dvitheeyam premieres on ZEE5 Telugu on 25th March, which is the auspicious occasion of Ugadi. Incidentally, the trailer shows Amrutham and Anji too setting Ugadi as the day for the grand reopening of their restaurant.
