Bhonsle follows the story of a retired Mumbai police officer who befriends a North Indian girl and her brother when the local politicians are trying to force their agenda to get rid of the migrants from Maharashtra. The film is directed by Devashish Makhija and co-produced by Manoj Bajpayee.
The film stars Manoj Bajpayee in the lead and Bhonsle garnered great acclaim at its release at 2018 Busan International Film Festival and also it was featured in MAMI Film Festival, and 2019 International Film Festival Rotterdam also it won Best Director and screenplay award at Asian Film Festival Barcelona.
Bhonsle made its fair share of rounds at film festivals and now is gearing up for a direct to web release on Sony LIV. Streaming platforms are making up for the Friday releases which were routine by theatres before the COVID-19 pandemic. Sony LIV’s recent release “Kadakh” was an interesting watch and from the looks of Bhonsle’s trailer, it surely promises to be a hard-hitting social drama.
Beside Manoj Bajpayee, the film also stars Abhishek Banerjee, Santosh Juvekar, Ipshita Chakraborty Singh, Virat Vaibhav and Neetu Pande.
Bhonsle will be streaming on Sony LIV from June 26th, 2020. Sony LIV has revamped its app and revised its subscription plans. Do check them out.
