The coronavirus pandemic may have stripped us of our hope and joy, and so Apple TV+'s new show 'Dear...' comes at a rather appropriate time, inspiring us all to get back to letter writing and of course, having a good cry while we're at it.
Dear... is a show which follows several well-known celebrity figures from various walks of life reading letters from individuals around the world who have felt inspired by their journey. Based on Apple's 'Dear Apple' spots, the series will feature names like Oprah Winfrey, Stevie Wonder, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Gloria Steinem, Jane Goodall, Misty Copeland, and Sesame Street's Big Bird as they not only connect to people whose lives they have changed but also share anecdotes from their own lives.
Our favourite moment from the trailer is a teary-eyed Lin-Manuel Miranda reading a letter from a fan who has been inspired to 'represent her people' because of him. In fact, Miranda even tweeted about the letters saying that he cried while going through them. "Every time you make something, you're throwing rocks in a pond and you have no idea the ripples that are gonna come back to you," Miranda says in the trailer.
Directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker R.J. Cutler, Dear... starts streaming on Apple TV+ on June 5.
