Trailer Touchdown: Hillbilly Elegy

An unexpected return to his home in southern Ohio triggers a lot of painful memories for J.D. Vance, who is enrolled in the prestigious Yale Law School at present. Vance had a complicated upbringing—his mother Bev struggled with addiction issues, while his non-nonsense grandmother Mamaw weathered her daughter's erratic behaviour and brought up Vance. As Vance comes back home, can he escape these memories, or will he take them in his stride and move on? The trailer for the film shows the crests and troughs of three generations of the Vance family, and the impact of that discord on Vance's childhood.

Directed by Ron Howard, and based on Vance's 2016 memoir, which was adjudged a bestseller by The New York Times, the film stars Academy Award nominees Glenn Close and Amy Adams, and Gabriel Besso in the role of Vance. Other cast members include Haley Bennett, Frieda Pinto, Bo Hopkins, Sunny Mabrey, Jesse C. Boyd and others.

Hillbilly Elegy premieres on November 24, 2020, only on Netflix.
