Trailer Touchdown: Mank

1930s Hollywood movie 'Mank' is reevaluated through the eyes of scathing wit and alcoholic screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz as he races to finish “Citizen Kane.” David Fincher directed this biographical drama for which Fincher's father, Jack, has written the script. The film unit launched Mank's trailer a while ago, and it is getting a positive response from everyone.

Mank is alternately called “a court jester” in the trailer. When Welles (Tom Burke) asks if Mank is “ready and willing to hunt the great white whale,” Mank responds, “Just call me Ahab.”

David Fincher's father Jack wrote the script in the 1990s, and David wanted to do the film in 1997, but the project never took off. The film was announced in July last year. The film unit began the shoot in November last year and finished it in February this year.

Ceán Chaffin, Douglas Urbanski, and Eric Roth produce the film. Gary Oldman plays the title role of the movie. The film also features Amanda Seyfried, Lily Collins, Arliss Howard, Tom Pelphrey, Sam Troughton, Ferdinand Kingsley, Tuppence Middleton, Tom Burke, and Charles Dance. Mank is scheduled to be released in a limited number of theatres next month. The film will also land on Netflix on December 4, 2020.
