After a lukewarm start at the beginning of the lockdown, films coming to OTT platforms directly are slowly finding their foot with respect to quality and the names that are associated with them. The next in line is Zee5's Yaara, a period crime drama that comes from director Tigmanshu Dhulia, known for Irrfan Khan's Paan Singh Tomar.
Aptly releasing on Friendship Day, Yaara is the story of 4 friends who get together to get through crimes in the 70s, and then get reunited 20 years later. The story seems to have space for a good changeover in the middle, as the trailer itself is cut interestingly by showing the period portions first up and then moving on to the current happenings.
It's good to see talented actors like Vidyut Jamwal and Amit Sadh, the latter of who is getting really busy with multiple releases on OTT platforms this month. Shruti Hassan plays the female lead in the film, playing Vidyut's pair, having a seemingly strong role in the second half.
Tigmanshu Dhulia handled the period portions extremely well in his Paan Singh Tomar, and that does instil some hope for Yaara which will drop onto the Zee5 platform on the 30th of July.
