What is the story about?

Tuck Jagadish has Jagadish (Nani) coming back to his ancestral village, only to find things out of place. The man tries to mend ways and get in touch with his familial relationships again, only to be surprised by the demise of his father which turns things on its head. Jagadish then takes it by the horns and decides to clear out all the issues, one by one.

Analysis

Tuck Jagadish is one of those films which you can predict from the word go. There is nothing special in this family drama which abides by the common cliches of the genre one by one, to the extent that there is hardly anything to celebrate in it but for Nani, his screen presence and his newfound fluency in fight sequences. The film plods along with a very basic approach, which is formulaic to the core.

Performances

Nani is the star of the show as expected, delivering a very convincing performance in a mass-oriented role. The film would have been a better bet in theatres with the crowds cheering his entries, dialogues and the likes. Ritu Varma does a decent job playing the love interest, while Aishwarya Rajesh is a fine fit as the loving sister. The rest of the cast which includes big names such as Jagapathi Babu hardly have anything special to put in.

Music & Other Departments

One of the drawbacks of Tuck Jagadish that impact it big time would be the music, be it the songs or the score. If the film had a better background score, it would have been a better bet, especially in the fight sequences.

Highlights

Nani’s performance is the only silver lining here.

Drawbacks

The lack of surprises in the narrative is the big flaw.

Did I enjoy it?

Not much. It could have been way better.

Do I recommend it?

Only if you really like Nani, this would be worth a watch.
