What is the story about?

The story picks up a few months after season 1 ends. Ferry Bouman is still in prison, Bob is working for the police and Kim is still working as an investigative reporter, even though she's no longer working undercover. Kim stumbles upon a deadly secret and needs Bob's help to uncover it, thereby endangering both their lives.

Analysis

One of the greatest tragedies about OTT platforms is how truly amazing shows get ignored due to the constant hype of the not so amazing ones. Undercover, is one such show. It has all the necessary requirements to make an excellent crime thriller. Without giving out any spoilers, let us tell you that season 2 begins with the death of a major character. That forms the crux of the story. So, Bob, our hero goes undercover to get to the bottom of the mystery. We are also introduced to two new villains in the show, so Bob has a lot of reckoning to do. Both the stories are interlinked with finesse with Bob right in the middle of them both. While season 1 was all about the espionage, this season is more about seeking revenge.

Performances

Tom Waes and Anna Drijver are the fantastic leads with a lot of chemistry between. Alas, the chemistry is short-lived. Frank Lammers, Elise Schaap, Raymond Thiry and Robbie Cleiren have done a decent job playing the supporting characters.

Music & Other Departments

The general feel of the show is tense and thrilling and the music is quite fitting. The makers have right introduced the right balance of thrill, suspense and action to make it into an addictive thriller.

Highlights

The death of the major character is both a highlight and a drawback of the show. We hope there is a season 3 because it just started getting interesting. Killing a major character so early on could also mean the death of an entire storyline.

Drawbacks

The fact that it is in Dutch and you have to rely on subtitles, kill the intensity of the series.

Did I enjoy it?

Yes. It is one of the rare shows that will truly keep you on the edge of your seat.

Do I recommend it?

Go for it. If you like crime dramas and are okay with relying solely on subtitles to understand them, then this show is perfect for you.
