Veneno is based on a biography of Cristina “La Veneno” Ortiz by transgender author Valeria Vegas, and it has an ambitious scope. It’s not only going to cover how Valeria’s work on the book with Cristina influences her own transition, but we’re going to see Cristina as a male child, and then in her twenties, struggling with her identity and figuring out if she should transition or not. Based on the first episode, there will be time shifts galore, a la This Is Us. Will it be a fun examination of a trans icon’s life or be a complete mess?
