Zareen Khan’s LGBTQ+ film to release on digital platform sans theatrical release
Bhavana Sharma -
Starring Zareen Khan and Anshuman Jha in lead roles, 'Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele', an LGBTQ+ themed film, will be releasing on a digital platform instead of getting a theatrical release. This film will be one of those films from Bollywood which will be releasing on OTT sans theatres, and date of the release is yet to be fixed. Initially, this film was slated for release in the month of February, but it did not.
Confirming the news, Zareen took to her social media account to write about it. She wrote, “A gay boy, a lesbian girl, a road trip... What do you think happened next? #HumBhiAkeleTumBhiAkele. Happy Pride month from Veer and Mansi. Since we can't release this journey of friendship in theatres this June, we promise to see you soon digitally. Stay tuned for more as we will be 'coming out' with an announcement to make this month even more special,”
Hum Bhi AKele… is directed by Harish Vyas as is a mainstream Bollywood film which Zareen and Anshuman playing gay protagonists. To our surprise, this film had already won Best Film award in New York at the HBO South Asian Film Festival gala that was held in December last year. Also, the premiere of the film was also held.
Zareen was last seen in Chanakya, a Telugu film that released in 2019, and marked her debut in Telugu film Industry. She played a private detective called Agent Zubeda in this film. Also, she recently hosted Jeep Bollywood trails, a travel show on AXN.
